Our client is a well established Insurance Provider based in the Manchester area. They are currently recruiting for an Underwriter to join the team to assist with schemes on a delegated authority basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for specialist motor and commercial insurance schemes under a delegated authority and will be dealing with a range of activities from traditional rate management to claims analysis.

Responsibilities will include:

Contributing to the development and implementation of new and/or enhanced products and customer propositions and the management of underwriting portfolios through the provision of appropriate advice and services.

Regularly monitoring portfolio performance and making appropriate recommendations to achieve business plans

Specifying, building and operating technical pricing models to meet business needs and requirements, ensuring methods and assumptions used are appropriate and consistent with relevant Group/Regional guidelines and reflect material regulatory requirements.

Developing pricing models as required, supporting and informing business activities and decisions.

Contributing to corporate transactions and business change activities providing accurate and reliable models and forecasts to support decision making and action planning

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Experience within an underwriting or assistant underwriting role.
A focus on delivering results to the business.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Capability to guide and manage junior staff.
The ability to communicate effectively to non-technical audiences.
Strong numeracy skills, good attention to detail and some understanding of statistical analysis.
