Overview

Our client is a well-respected airline with an expanding business plan. Due to this expansion they are seeking to recruit a Senior Buyer with experience in the Aerospace sector, specifically with material control experience of parts, maintenance and workshop support.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Forward Provisioning/Supplier Management


• Manage operational effectiveness of consumable suppliers incl. day-to-day purchasing requirements
• Provide day-to-day support and management of Purchasing team
• Performance Management of strategic suppliers in line with the company policy ensuring SLA’s are met.
• Develop an effective forward provisioning structure in order to meet business needs.
• Fully utilise the Reorder system and Parts Consumption Forecast modules to ensure exposure to surplus and waste is minimised.
• Liaise with the engineering community to develop cost effective provisioning models.
• Support and participate in tendering and contract development processes.
• Ensure maximum value for money in all buying decisions.
• Deliver appropriate and timely management reporting across all areas of responsibility.
• Progress and expedite outstanding orders for the timely delivery of material.


Operational Support


• Procurement of aircraft spare parts
• Tracing and tracking of ongoing shipments worldwide
• Expedite the delivery of parts into the shops or to other stations
• Coordination of case to case logistic activities worldwide
• Monitor task progress and take necessary action to deliver in agreed timescale / budget completing all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
• Liaising with other departments as necessary (e.g. outside agencies, airport authorities, etc)


Desirable Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Competencies & Qualifications


• ‘A’ Level : NVQ level 3 or equivalent
• Aviation background with strong purchasing experience or experience of comparable supply chain environments
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel based programmes, and knowledge of engineering systems
• Day-to-day procurement experience including tendering for supply agreements
