Senior Purchasing Material Supplier


Overview

Our client is a well-respected airline with an expanding business plan. Due to this expansion they are seeking to recruit a Senior Buyer with experience in the Aerospace sector, specifically managing Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers to improve operational effectiveness and reduce cost within the consumable and expendable purchasing category.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Forward Provisioning/Supplier Management


• Manage commodity budgets linking operational spend to budgetary targets
• Vendor management of Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers
• Responsible for performance management of strategic suppliers in line with the company policy
• Manage Open and Partially receipted orders, ensure adherence to company stocking policy and authorities and approval limits in line with Buyer Performance KPI’s
• Provide day-to-day support to the wider purchasing team
• Fully utilise the ERP Reorder system and Parts Consumption Forecast modules to ensure exposure to surplus and waste is minimised
• Actively engage with the wider engineering community to ensure cost effective procurement
• Support and participate in tendering and contract development processes
• Deliver appropriate and timely management reporting across all areas of responsibility
• Continuously analyse and develop existing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and performance


Operational Support


• Procurement of aircraft spare parts
• Tracing and tracking of ongoing shipments worldwide
• Expedite the delivery of parts into the shops or to other stations
• Coordination of case to case logistic activities worldwide
• Monitor task progress and take necessary action to deliver in agreed timescale/budget completing all paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
• Liaising with other departments as necessary (e.g. outside agencies, airport authorities, maintrol etc)


Desirable Key Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Competencies & Qualifications


• ‘A’ Level : NVQ level 3 or equivalent
• Aviation background with strong purchasing experience or experience of comparable supply chain environments
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel based programmes, and knowledge of engineering systems
• Day-to-day procurement experience including tendering for supply agreements
