Purchasing Manager

A tremendous opportunity has arisen with one of our clients for a procurement specialist to join the Senior Management team and lead the culture change within the company.

They are a rapidly expanding business, famed for quality and they are seeking to appoint a decisive professional to modernise their purchasing function and start controlling costs.

Purpose of role

• To provide support with all aspects of the procurement process across the UK business
• To develop the Company’s procurement policies and practices in line with best practices
• To undertake purchasing of key services and materials : direct and in-direct
•


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Negotiate and regularly review product prices, generating increased profit margins where possible
• Source and review new suppliers across the Far East and Eastern Europe
• Source, investigate and report on the viability of proposed new products, including pricing and timeframes.
• Develop and maintain on-going relationships with suppliers to ensure best possible service
• Monitor supplier performance, reviewing and evaluating using a suitable vendor rating system
• Implement continuous improvement within procurement
• Maintain updated margins proposals for all products



THE PERSON

• Experience in sourcing and buying products from worldwide suppliers (Far East and Eastern Europe)
• Demonstrable success in cost savings and process improvements
• Willingness to travel when required
• Effective communication skills, verbal and written, dealing with suppliers globally
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and meet targets
• Sound IT skills, using Word and Excel
