The Role
Based within the procurement team of the West London office, the role is managing all activities in relation to a fleet of vans, cars and heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

You will have a proven track record in fleet management, ideally having worked in a highly customer focused environment. You should have a structured approach and an eye for detail as well as the level of curiosity to challenge ‘the norm’ to create a lower cost, more efficient and safer fleet of vehicles.

Operating with fleet of 1000 cars, vans and heavy good vehicles (HGVs) across mainland UK and ROI, drivers are either company car drivers or operational personnel. The successful candidate is expected to drive improvements and manage risk within the discipline.

The role of Senior Fleet Manager is highly strategic; providing a low cost, efficient, well presented and safe fleet of vehicles is critical.

You will be responsible for defining and managing policies and procedures, ensuring the fleet is fully compliant with company standards and both industry regulations and all the relevant governmental legislation of UK and Ireland.

You will be responsible for defining and implementing the fleet strategy in in line with the company’s overall vision and objectives. Your strategy will cover but will not be limited to:

• Procurement of lease contracts including whole life cycle costings and return of fleet vehicles
• Effective service and maintenance in a timely, professional and legal manner to enable provision of a safe and cost effective fleet operation
• Continuous improvement initiatives which challenge ‘the norm’ to drive savings in areas such as fuel, repairs and tyre costs

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the fleet through:

• Your own direct involvement
• Your delegation of activities to either your direct report
• Your management of outsourced activities through your relevant service providers (e.g. maintenance or lease supplier)

Experience Required
Firstly we are looking for someone with passion for the automotive industry, being actively involved with industry associations, such as FTA and ICFM will be a bonus.

In addition to being a fleet professional you have specific experience in actively managing lease providers. You understand the complexities of balancing high levels of customer service whilst also delivering fleet operations at the lowest possible total cost.

You have strong presence and influencing skills, as well as confidence in being the subject matter expert.

Must Have:

• 3-5 years’ experience of managing a sizable and varied fleet (more than 500 leased vans, cars and HGVs), across multiple depot and office locations
• Experience of working in a service industry with high customer service levels
• Experience of identifying and delivering operational improvements and total cost reduction.
• Experience of procuring and managing vehicle insurance policies
• Evidence showing:

• • Asset management and cost control of end to end fleet process from procurement of lease through to off-leasing of vehicles and all intermediary costs such as maintenance and accident management • • Knowledge of managing Employee Car Ownership Schemes (ECOS) • • Strong supplier management skills in particular performance management against SLAs / KPIs and supplier relationship management • • Ability to explain complex or detailed concepts rationally with facts, figures and other supporting evidence and convince parties with differing views of an agreed way forward. • • Ability to think at strategic level and translate into pragmatic plans for implementation.

Nice to Have:

• ICFM Membership
• Experience of negotiating credit arrangements with lease companies
• Experience of having procure, operated and disposed of outright vehicle purchases
