Materials Controller

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Location: Sheffield

Our client has been established for over 100 years and produces a wide range of products for a number of major UK retailers and food service customers. Current turnover is over £50 million and due to forecast further growth, they urgently require a Materials Controller to join the Supply Chain Team. They put their success down to being a people business, employing people with a passion for food.

Job Overview:

As Materials Controller you will report to the Planning Manager and effectively manage the material flow required to meet the production plan. You will ensure stocks are kept at their optimum level so production remains seamless.

Job Duties:

• Review and update the MRP system, ensuring the optimum control of materials and components are maintained
• Ensure the on-time delivery of materials to site
• Work closely with the Production Manager and Supply Chain Manager to ensure a consistent flow of material availability information
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure that communication and supply of information is always at the highest level
• Monitor the delivery performance to ensure that satisfactory service levels are achieved
• Manage inventory levels to ensure company / personal targets are achieved
• Communicate the supply plan with planning and production teams, as required


Experience Required:

• Experience within a materials planning/control role within the FMCG / Food sector
• Excellent IT/PC skills are essential, experience of MRP/ERP systems would be an advantage, full training will be given on our bespoke packages
• You will need to be comfortable working with numbers and have a systematic and methodical approach to your work and will be highly analytical with good attention to detail
• You will be able to provide accurate information in a timely manner and be proactive and ready to take on any challenge
