An excellent opportunity has arisen within one of our prestigious clients for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join the team in Andover. The purpose of this role is to manage the warehouse operation efficiently to achieve targeted performance levels.Our client is an expanding retailer; preference will be given to candidates from a multi temperature food distribution background, who can demonstrate continuous improvement, such as six sigma and/or 5S experience.
Responsibilities:
Managing a team of over 900 staff, directly and indirectly
Deputising for the GM when necessary so that the DC continues to provide a smooth and efficient service
Lead, coach and develop direct reports in order to ensure that people are performance focussed and engaged so that the operational plan can be achieved and individuals potential maximised.
Contribute to reducing the operating costs of the distribution network, both on a local and a National level.
Cultural change management through continuous improvement, involving all colleagues, aligning to business strategy in order to drive measured improvements to performance, service and engagement.
Plan and implement resource requirements ensuring the right people, processes and equipment are in place so that the agreed stock and administration operational plan is met and service levels and productivity maintained.
Facilitate regular interactions, (e.g. value stream maps, Kaizen events, Listen Act and Fix, back to the floor and focus groups) by adhering to a standardised framework to ensure that the outputs of said sessions are realised, measurable and sustainable.
Actively contribute to the National CI council and the national agenda
Measure the compliance of operational process to ensure the DC operates within business guidelines and legislative requirements
Required to up skill other Managers in Lean Methodology through coaching and role modelling
Multiple streams of works and initiatives, across multiple departments/shifts
Numerous stakeholders to influence over cost savings and initiatives
Sustaining performance and engagement onsite during periods of change
Embedding an engagement led Continuous Improvement culture within the Depot without any direct team
Essential experience:
You MUST be able to demonstrate experience within a large distribution centre environment that operated CI methodologies
Excellent facilitation and coaching skills
An Inspirational leader : Able to set an example for their team by displaying skills of delegation, motivation, self awareness and emotional intelligence.
Proven commitment to a culture of engagement and empowerment
Knowledge of industry standards/KPIs / budgets and financial
Passionate about Continuous Improvement, previous experience of leading Continuous Improvement projects at Black Belt Level Essential
Working Knowledge of relevant Legislation
Retail/Supply Chain background Previous FMCG experience is desirable
Experience of managing change
Experience managing a complex team/operation
Ability to Manage and engage stakeholders
Experience of working in a Unionised environment would also be beneficial
