We are working with a market leader within its niche that has gone through rapid growth since its conception over 10 years ago (currently 100m TO). Due to ambitious growth plans and future business planning, they are now looking to recruit an FC to join the business.

Reporting into the FD the role will have full responsibility for the finance function including group accounting, full financial management, financial control, compliance and dealing with key external relationships. In addition to managing the overall finance function, there will be strong involvement into the wider business operations and commercial involvement.

Due to succession planning, the position will then move into the FD role within 1-3 years of joining, so it is imperative that candidates are ambitious and looking to progress. Key areas of responsibility will include;

•Consolidation of accounts review and reporting to the Board - 4 companies within the group
•Assisting the Board in formulating strategic business plans, Providing relevant and timely financial information to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Group’s strategy and objectives
•Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring and review of performance, reporting of variances to the Board
•Provide financial analyses - capital investments, pricing decisions, contract negotiations, business performance, analysing competitors and market trends
•Oversee the finance team, supporting the FM with the coordination of annual accounts, cash position and treasury strategy
•Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, including review of processes, effectiveness of internal controls covering financial, operational and compliance controls
•Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, bankers, lawyers, HMRC, insurers
•Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
Assisting and involvement with system implementation and upgrade projects
•Management of the group Corporation Tax affairs, Authorisation of VAT and CT returns and Bank payment sign off (payroll, HMRC, dividends)
•Full management of the team (12 people), including half yearly appraisals and 1:1s with the Finance Manager

It is essential that candidates are fully qualified ACCA / CIMA/ ACA and have proven experience working at this level.

Strong technical accounting experience is essential, in addition to having sound commercial awareness and the ability to support Directors and key stakeholders with strategic decisions and planning. Excellent communication skills are essential.
