Working out of our clients NDC in Worksop, an exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the company as Transport Planner, reporting to the Logistics Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and committed individual to join an evolving function and make a genuine impact.



Job Role

This is a manual planning role, incorporating multiple channel distribution planning, including owned fleet, sub contracted haulage, and pallet consolidation distribution. The planner will be required to plan both internal and external customer orders into loads utilising the most cost effective distribution channel to best meet the needs of the customer. The planner will be required to develop successful working relationships with 3rd party hauliers, and employ their knowledge of the various regional distribution channels across the UK to reduce costs and increase back-loading. This is a key customer facing role (major retailer buyers, delivery location contacts and even domestic customers) with a need for clear, effective and professional communication to ensure orders/deliveries are planned and accepted in line with service expectations. Ensuring efficient time slot planning of all inbound and outbound movements and working closely with the warehouse and production functions to achieve prompt and organised turnaround of vehicles



The role will also involve at times elements of the management of the owned fleet and driving staff, including ensuring transport legislation and tachograph compliance.



Person Profile

• Demonstrate experience within a similar manual planning role
• Evidence of excellent team working and a strong customer focused approach
• Success in working to challenging KPIs
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
• Preferably National CPC Holder, demonstrating management of transport and tachograph compliance
• Well networked in relation to knowledge of UK transport and haulage providers
• Excellent IT skills, proficient at Excel & Word
• Can clearly communicate at all levels with a positive, confident and customer focussed outlook
• Flexible working approach, able to organise, delegate and prioritise multiple tasks
