Job Information

I am currently recruiting for an HR Manger to join a legal firm in central London.

The successful candidate will have gained generalist experience within the Legal or Professional Services sector. They will have solid experience of managing ER issues both routine and complex : including supporting documentation. They will have experience of drafting, implementing and updating HR policies and procedures. They will have the ability to foster strong working relationships with internal clients. An excellent understanding of employment law and best practice guidelines.

They will excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to manage several projects at once and manage a busy workload. High attention to detail. Demonstrates a
commercial approach to work.

This is a stand-alone position and would suit someone who either is a senior HR advisor looking for the next step or a HR Manager who wants to work operationally with strategic support from the US.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Relations:

• Overall responsibility for managing employee relations issues both routine and non routine e.g. disciplinary, grievances, staff welfare issues etc.
• Supporting managers and partners on the annual review process if performance concerns have been raised.
• Jointly responsible with the Head of Administration for managing and mentoring the Administrative Assistant


Reward & Benefits:

• Managing monthly auto-enrolment and pension processes,


• Sourcing and providing comprehensive salary surveys to the London Managing Partner and Head of Administration in support of the salary review process.
• Providing salary information to the partnership and US on salary levels for London Attorneys and non legal staff with salary uplift data.
• In liaison with the Head of Administration and the partnership calculating and recommending bonus information in line with Firmwide procedure.
• Facilitating annual benefits reviews in the market to ensure competiveness with benefits offered to staff in London, to include market intelligence data where regular liaison with brokers for the day to day administration of London benefits, to include where appropriate relationships with occupational health providers for any new or ongoing GIP claims.


Recruitment & Resourcing:

• Discussing resourcing and recruitment needs with the partnership.
• Advising on the best recruitment methodology for resource requirements; headhunting, advertising etc.


• Advising on and undertaking interview and selection methods.
• Managing offer determination and candidate acceptance strategies.
• Coordinating annual trainee recruitment process.



Learning & Development:

• Assisting in the integration of new partners, fee-earners and support staff.
• Identifying training needs and advising on training available.
• Assisting with annual performance review processes for fee earners and support staff.
• Responsibility for introducing trainee solicitors to the London office, with significant involvement in managing the trainees during their seat rotations and contract, and ensuring compliance with the SRA Training Regulations 2014.


HR Advice & Policy:

• Working closely with the partnership in all HR matters both on an operational and strategic basis.
• Responsibility for management and implementation of HR policies and procedures for the firm’s London office.
• Coaching partners and managers in effective people practices.
• Ensuring legal and non legal staff are rewarded, developed & managed appropriately, consistently and in line with firm wide procedures.
• Proactively suggesting improved ways of providing HR service to business.
• Advising on and improving internal HR practices and processes.


Administration:

• Responsibility for all HR documentation including offer letters, contracts of employment, contracts for services and compromise agreements.
• Managing the new hire process, including, but not limited to, reference and transcript checks, conflict checks, candidate eligibility to work in the UK,
• London office announcements, secretarial allocation, orientation schedules and checklists, creating and maintaining personnel files.
• Handling all HR change of status processes, attendance, sickness and vacation accruals in accordance with Firm policy.
• Maintains accurate and up to date employee records on HR system


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Experience of working recently as a HR professional within the Legal or Professional Services Sector
• Experience of managing Employee Cases and Recruitment
• MCIPD or similar
