I am currently working with an education organisation based in Surry who are looking to appoint an Assistant Director of Organisation Development.

The post holder will work with the Director of Human Resources to develop the
Organisational Development (OD) strategy and ensure that the OD Service is positioned to deliver efficient, consistent and sustainable organisational development initiatives.

The post holder will plan and manage the provision of a high quality OD and professional development function, which enhances individual, management and organisational performance and supports the strategic aims. The post holder will be required to build effective relationships with stakeholders, in order to ensure that their requirements inform the design and delivery of developments in a timely manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


• To develop and implement an Organisational Development Strategy working closely with the Director of Human Resources and other senior colleagues, including the Vice Principal Human Resources and Chairs of relevant committees.
• To review training and development provision and commission and /or deliver appropriate solutions to meet the College’s training and development needs.
• To ensure the OD team works closely with HR Business Partners to scope systemic changes and the development needs of staff within the Schools, Faculties and Divisions to meet the cultural change and developmental needs of that area.
• To ensure the identification, design, delivery and evaluation of staff development activities to support organisational needs as appropriate.
• To work closely with the Director of HR to maintain a comprehensive leadership and management development programme.
• To maintain awareness of developments in training and organisational development theory and initiatives within the Higher Education sector and beyond.
• To ensure the delivery of a high quality in-house training programme within budget and that staff development policies and procedures remain relevant and are consistently applied.
• To ensure that training provision and development opportunities (both internal and external) are effectively marketed and that target groups are reached and engaged in development activities.
• Ensure the provision of effective advice on staff, management and leadership development issues to Deans, Heads of Departments and other managers, working with them to support the growth of a developmental and high performance culture.
• To ensure that all training and development provision is effectively evaluated and reviewed in light of evaluation outcomes.
• Ensure a high performance culture within the team and through the training and development activities provided and that resources are targeted on the company’s priorities and identified development needs.
• To plan, manage, forecast and monitor staff development budgets and resources working within the company’s financial regulations.
• To ensure that commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity is reflected and promoted in all aspects of the work of the OD team and the approach adopted by all trainers working within the company.
• Research, draft and present papers and reports to committees and working groups as required. Participate in and Chair working groups as necessary.
• To provide effective line management of the OD Team, to manage its performance and prioritise project activity in light of strategic priorities and individual strengths/development needs. Develop and coach colleagues in relation to consultancy and influencing skills and the development of management competencies.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


• Relevant post graduate qualification and CIPD qualified or relevant equivalent experience
• Qualified to conduct individual and team psychometric testing
• A demonstrable commitment to equality of opportunity and an understanding of how that can be embedded into the work of the post holder and the organisation development
• Strong analytical skills and a track record of effective problem solving. A combination of strategic ability and a hands-on approach to achieving goals
• Computer literacy- a good working knowledge of the MS suite of IT packages and of using HR and/or training systems
• Significant post qualification experience of working at senior level and of the development and implementation of large scale behavioural change and learning strategies
• A track record of leading successful projects, including organisational development and leadership. Management development initiatives in a large complex unionised organisation
• Extensive experience of creating innovative learning and development solutions to meet specific organisational needs and of coordinating training/learning interventions in support of organisational change programmes
• Experience of all aspects of leading, managing, developing, coaching and motivating staff and of building teams
