I am currently recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Assistant for a logistics organisation based in Reading.

The role will be working in the import and export department, where they will be responsible for preparing and placing orders, Warehouse distribution, Customer Services and general admin tasks.

The successful candidate will have worked in a similar Logistics or Purchasing role. They will have excellent excel skills which include experience of V-Look ups, and Pivot Tables. This is a “hands on” role in a small organisation and will give the opportunity for the right candidate to grow their career.

This is an urgent position and needs someone who can start immediately.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supporting the purchasing department with its daily, weekly and monthly material requisitions;
• Helping to process and progress orders whilst ensuring on-time delivery and that production schedules and MRP`s are met.
• Working closely alongside the production, finance and dispatch departments.
• Must have proven experience of working within a Purchasing Department
• Monitoring on a daily basis the current product range
• Placing orders with suppliers
• Ensuring adequate stock cover
• Negotiating with existing and new suppliers in respect of payment terms, returns policy, delivery lead times, quality of product etc.
• Ensuring that due dates for deliveries are updated


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


• Experience of working in a similar role
• Experience in a purchasing or Logistics environment
• Excellent Excel Skills to include V-Look Up and Pivot Table
• Good IT skills : Including Powerpoint
• A good telephone manner and is a confident communicator
• An excellent ability to work well within team
• Bilingual preferred but not essential
