I am currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer for Medical organisation based in Portsmouth

The Buyer’s responsibility to plan need, place order and follow up deliveries to Production facility in Portsmouth for Direct material and indirect material. The Buyer will, report to the Purchasing Manager and interact with planning, finance, production, sales and the technical teams.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in a similar position, preferably within the medical sector (sector experience not essential). They will have experience in Supply Chain or a Logistics organisation, along with experience in order planning, stock management and purchasing. They will be a communicative, problem solving person that likes to step into details and is capable of working in team as well as individual. They will have excellent IT skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with production planning and place order, follow up delivery for direct material
• To have a proactive approach - highlight areas of concern and identify opportunities, by improving demand forecasting, ordering process, order quantity levels, stock level management, consignment stock management and cost reduction opportunities.
• Follow up key performance indicators and monitor performance of suppliers regarding fulfillment of on time deliveries (OTD), zero defect deliveries (ZDD) and price level.
• Interact with production, finance and technical team to place order for supply of indirect material & services.
• Support/ add purchasing data into new IFS system (today JDE One world systems), such as prices, lead-times, and to continuously develop system usage for the daily operation in Portsmouth.
• To support the Purchasing Manager/Sales team collecting information for Tenders when requested.
• Responsible for commercial non-conformities claim discussion with the supplier base whenever an issue is caused by supplier regarding quality or on time deliveries.
• Have capability to develop and take on responsibilities around appropriate benchmark of competitiveness, negotiate and establish written framework agreements, as required by Purchasing Manager.
• Have capability to develop knowledge, around the product / services required and use this to generate quality, reliability and value through development of business relationships with Suppliers.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Previous experience in Logistics or Supply Chain
• Energetic with pragmatic, problem solving personality with good communication skills.
• Quick learner with an eye for situation adopted and process improvement and with the capability to implement them in the organisation by interacting with others.
• Relevant Business degree within Supply chain management or Logistics or 1-2 Years’ experience of working as operational buyer in a manufacturing business.
• Experienced user of MS Office package.
