Job Information

We are working with a large public sector business and they are recruiting for an experienced Head of HR.

Heading the HR team of c15 people : reporting into the CEO and Senior Directors. The main focus of the role is strategic, working closely with the CEO and senior management team, involved in the strategic focus and direction of the organisation. In addition to heading up the HR function, the role will involve working on and leading on various projects within the organisation.



Key duties and responsibilities will include;

• To be the lead HR professional to manage the delivery of the HR and OD Service.
• Work as part of the senior management team : supporting and working closely with the CEO and senior Directors, attending senior management meetings and involvement with high level area of the organisation.
• Taking lead role in the company’s transformation and change management programmes, designing strategies, policies and procedures.
• Lead and manage the business’ Employer of Choice transformation programme, to ensure they have a workforce that is structured and equipped to deliver the wider transformation programmes.
• Champion and lead on high profile projects within the organisation including IT implementation project and People Strategy.
• Lead on the development and implementation of people management aspects of organisational change, taking lead responsibility for implementing a People Plan for change programmes such as restructures, TUPE transfers, cultural change programmes etc.
• Providing expert advice on employment matters and employment law.
• Working in partnership with the Strategic Management Board.
• Assessing and reviewing the performance of staff in the HR service.
• Lead on workforce development, including workforce planning, the learning and development programme and leadership and management to enable the business to meet the strategic and service objectives.
• Ensuring all members of staff are aware of and adhere to all policies.
• Ensure that the services comply with health and safety requirements.
• Maintain up to date professional knowledge of employment legislation, including emerging legislation and best practice, to ensure policies and practices are complaint with employment law.



Essentials for the role;

• Fully CIPD qualified or the equivalent.
• Previously worked at this level or a similar level.
• Experience working as Head of HR, Senior HR Manager or HR Director.
• TUPE experience.
• Public sector experience.
