 We are assisting an established distribution company with the recruitment of an experienced Procurement Manager / Head of Procurement. The company is based on East London.

Reporting into the MD and managing 2 people, the role will be responsible for managing the sourcing capabilities and supply chain for this 12m TO business, including leading the procurement strategy and negotiating with suppliers across the purchasing function.

Candidates will need to have proven experience at this level and ideally hold strong operational experience, with a background in supply chain and warehouse management. Key duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Report into the MD and leading the procurement team (2 people)
  • Proactively participate in team meetings, working as part of the senior team, actively participate in all profit improvement and operational improvement initiatives
  • Lead the purchasing team in the development and implementation procurement strategies that are innovative cost-effective.
  • Sourcing and engaging of reliable suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure best value terms.
  • Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Approving purchase orders and organisation of delivery of goods and services.
  • Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Overseeing and managing the processes that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
  • Preparing procurement reports.
  • Ensure that all orders, quotes, telephone enquiries, despatches, invoices and invoice queries are processed accurately and within agreed timescales
  • Interpret demand outputs and sales trends analysis in order to ensure suitable stock cover
  • To positively contribute to a safe, tidy and efficient purchasing operation

Candidate will need to have CIPS (Managerial or Professional) and have proven experience at this level.
