We are assisting an established distribution company based in East London with the recruitment of an experienced Operations Manager.
 
Reporting into the MD and managing 4 people (with c25 indirect reports), the role will be responsible for managing the effective operations of the business, including warehouse, logistics, assembly and procurement / purchasing functions.
 
Candidates will need to have proven experience at this level and ideally hold strong operational experience, with a background in supply chain and warehouse management. Key duties and responsibilities will include;
 
-Responsible for a team of 25 people, managing operations of the growing 15m TO business, reporting into the MD.
-Effectively driving business performance, leading and rolling out profit improvement initiatives and ensuring an efficient operation.
-Managing Warehouse, Logistics, Assembly and Purchasing functions to provide an unrivalled level of service to customers and meet next day delivery targets
-Devise and implement a suitable Warehouse Management System to support the business’s Customer First philosophy, KPI’s and growth objectives
-Develop sourcing capabilities and supply chain including procurement strategy, controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
-Negotiating with suppliers and vendors across all areas of the Purchasing function, including; reviewing existing contracts with suppliers, building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers and approving purchase orders and organisation of delivery of goods and services
Interpret and action sales data and inventory analysis to ensure the availability and accurate picking, dispatch and delivery of parts in line with forecasts customer demands.
-Oversee the purchasing of materials and services to meet demand, specifications, cost quality with on-time delivery
-Ensure that works orders, pick lists, purchase orders, quotes, telephone enquiries, deliveries, supplier invoices and invoice queries are processed accurately and within agreed timescales
-Feedback market intelligence to the MD and Commercial Director, raising the companies profile within chosen markets.
-Overseeing Health & Safety, including performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements and working practices
-Review and interpret sales trends, preparing operational and procurement reports
-Management and development of staff to meet the needs of the business and to exceed customer expectation
 
Candidates will need to have proven operations experience working at this level, holding strong warehouse, distribution, supply chain and procurement (purchasing) experience.
