Working in partnership with an established public sector organisation we are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join their very successful team in Boston Spa on a 12-month fixed term contract until the end of March 2022.   You will need to be highly experienced in providing an efficient and timely Payroll and Employee Services administrative service to ensure 100% of staff are paid accurately and on time, including pension payments.
 
As the Employee Services Payroll Administrator, you will be required to:
 
·        Provide an efficient and timely Employee Services administrative service, dealing with statutory and policy frameworks to ensure 100% of staff are paid accurately and on time.
·        Provide efficient responses to payment, pension, sickness, parental, time recording and leave related data queries from internal and external customers.
·        Create and maintain accurate employee records using all relevant systems.
·        Process all approved changes in accordance with and support of payroll timetable.
·        Assess and process statutory pay elements in accordance with legislation, occupational policy, and payroll timetable.
·        Manage any overpayment/underpayments in accordance with company policy.
·        Monitor the Payroll system so payments and recoveries are correct.  Perform reconciliations to check reducing balances, performing gross to net calculations, random overtime checks, salary sacrifice checks etc.
·        Process all approved pension actions in accordance with timetable.
·        Support the Employee Services helpline/inbox responding to all enquiries made within agreed timescales. Open, sort and respond to internal/external post as appropriate.
·        Liaise with HR & Line Managers in obtaining approved changes.
·        Maintain the time recording system with new starters, leavers, background changes etc.
·        Expected to demonstrate a willingness to take on a range of tasks and to develop new skills, as appropriate.
 
The successful candidate should:
 
·        Have CIPP Foundation or equivalent experience from working in a busy payroll department.
·        Be able to work in an organised manner, in a pressured environment with conflicting demands, meeting deadlines, prioritising effectively, and using initiative.
·        Be excellent with figures as numerical accuracy is essential, along with experience as a high-volume processor.
·        Be PC literate, with the ability to use multiple databases and systems.
·        Have knowledge and understanding of occupational and statutory rules in relation to payments, absence and time recording.
·        Have a good understanding of spreadsheets and formulas.
·        Have good verbal and written communication skills.
·        Be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all activities.
·        Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team.
 
In return you will receive a salary of £19,500 per annum for working 36 hours per week.  The role is currently home based with an occasional day in the office in a Covid safe environment.  As lockdown measures are lifted you will be required to attend the office more, however this is likely to be a balanced home/office role going forward. The company also offer free parking on site, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, very generous pension, and flexi time accrual.
