We are assisting an established manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Procurement & Supply Chain Manager. This role is a new position and is an immediate need.
 
Reporting into the MD the role will have full responsibility for the procurement / purchasing and supply chain functions, including all day-to-day management and leadership. The role will involve a review of current practices, processors, and the roll out and implementation of effective changes across procurement and supply chain activities to support the business with long term profitability and growth. Main duties and responsibilities will include;
 
-Lead and manage the Procurement and Supply Chain functions for the business, reporting into the MD
-Review of the procurement and supply chain processors, including implementing and rolling out improvements and effective changes
-Hold full responsibility and manage all aspects of purchasing for the business - c5 million direct spend (UK and International)
-Leading the end-to-end procurement and supply chain function, creating the strategy while also delivering on it.
-Manage the Supply Chain & Procurement team to ensure staff performance is in line with business performance.
-Improve the overall supply chain performance and look for any possible innovations to the process
-Identify and manage the selection and approval of suppliers through competitive tender and the creation of supplier contracts.
-Ensure the development and implementation of purchasing controls, procedures and processes in line with Company procedures.
-Conduct contract reviews to manage performance of key suppliers
-Develop new and existing relationships with suppliers?
-Develop and manage a set of Key Performance Indicators for the procurement function for internal reporting on business performance and external customer reporting.
-Manage and oversee all supply chain activities by the department, including identification, acquisition, production, and distribution of products
-Monitor and manage inventory and stock levels
-Expertly negotiate costs and produce accurate stock forecasts
-Plan and implement logistical strategy, ensuring targets are met
-Oversee warehouse activities, handling and distribution

For this role it is essential that candidates have proven experience at this level and ideally hold or are working towards CIPS (or equivalent). It would be an advantage if candidates are from a manufacturing, engineering or similar procurement and supply chain background, although this isn’t essential.
 
Strong purchasing and management of the full supply chain function is essential, with rounded operational experience advantageous.
 
This is a new position in the business and will involve a full review of current processes and practices, with the opportunity to implement improvements, so there is excellent scope to make this role your own and work with autonomy.
