Working for an established family-owned limited business who design and manufacture bespoke shopfittings for a wide range of retail outlets.  Based in West Yorkshire, they pride themselves on providing the full package – from original design through to completed installation.  They currently employ circa 100 employees.

Duties and Responsibilities.

- To direct and manage picking, packing and despatch operations for all company sales.
- Manage section staffing issues and resource planning requirements where needed to continuously meet the agreed programmes in terms of quality and timing.
- Continuous development of new and existing direct reports.
- Carry out risk assessments and to recommend how improvements can be made to Health & Safety.
- Ensure safe working practices are observed at all times.
- Investigate and assist in the carrier selection based on best value - cost, quality and performance.
- Document, review and propose amendments to operating procedures relevant to the section’s efficient operation.
- Maintain stock accuracy in the Finished Goods Warehouse by carrying out periodic and rolling stock counts.
- Reduce picking and packing lead times and improve productivity by reducing non-productive time.
- To assist, encourage and participate in the activities for increasing the overall efficiency of the warehouse in particular Quality Control and Cost Reduction programmes.
- To investigate complaints by customers about product damage caused during delivery and obtain compensation from the carrier wherever possible. Also agree revised methods, as necessary, to ensure that the same or similar problems do not occur.

The Person Specification

- 5 years’ experience of working in a warehousing and/or distribution department.  Experience of both goods-in and goods-out is desirable.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Computer literate and experienced in using Warehouse Management systems.
- Ability to drive change throughout the section. 
- Valid Reach and Counterbalance FLT licences.
- Proven experience of people management.
- Excellent communicator – verbal and written.
- Organised & an effective organiser/planner of activities and people.
- Effective time manager and delegator.
- Focussed on productivity, quality, and cost.
- Health & Safety conscious.
- Drive for continuous improvement.
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping record
