Our client is one of the World’s largest global Insurance  and asset management Providers, operating in over 50 countries and have been trading over 150 years.  Now due to continues expansion they are looking for a Loss Control Engineer to join the Business – working from either the London or Birmingham office with Hybrid Working

Overview of the Position

Loss Control Engineer – Property experience is required for undertaking, organising and leading site survey visits, desktop reviews and technical reviews from an insurance and loss prevention perspective. Loss Control Engineering activities will be primarily property risk focused, although the candidate shall be flexible in industry experience and knowledge to support construction and casualty risk engineers and consultants. Position will require UK and some international travel, sometimes at short notice.

Principle accountabilities from a loss control perspective include:

·         Account management of site survey programme, impairments and recommendation tracking.

·         Participating on, often with other insurers, and leading site survey visits and generation of Generali loss control engineering report based on underwriter’s requirements (full, summary or COPE) in a timely manner.

·         Providing technical loss control assistance to underwriters and clients.

·         Attending loss events followed by preparing summary loss report.

·         Contributing to loss control engineering internal standards.

·         Delivery of training forums and other learning opportunities for internal stakeholders and to insured clients.

Requirements

·         Excellent report writing and presentation skills, in addition to a comprehensive knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential.

·         Confident working individually, whilst being a proactive team member in an engineering and underwriting environment.

·         Excellent communication and commercial awareness skills during meeting and through written correspondence.

Experience in and be able to travel frequently within the UK and abroad, both within Europe and multi[1]nationally, to undertake survey visits, and insured and internal meetings. This may be on short notice on occasion, with trips extending to two weeks.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Self-motivated, pro-active, diplomatic and able to deal with people at all levels.

·         University Engineering Degree (chemical, mechanical or electrical) or other internationally recognized qualification

·         Account risk management experience from a risk engineering perspective.

·         Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA, BSEN and other relevant internationally recognised standards.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with knowledge of an additional language (Spanish or French) being advantageous.

·         A loss control risk engineer with identifiable insurance loss prevention experience, with further industry experience preferred.

·         Ideally Highly Protected Risk trained by a lead insurer.

·         Must have experience in undertaking risk engineering survey visits of both commercial property and light industrial risks required
