 Our Client a global company with operations in manufacturing, logistics and consultancy in operational excellence are looking for a Finance Manager for its office in South Yorkshire.
 
 
Main Purpose of the Role
 
To lead the Finance team responsible for supporting the Operations, Financial Planning and Central Reporting areas, maintaining a high degree of cost control throughout the rail business unit. The role will: 
Lead the central business reporting for Finance summarizing business unit performance and working with individual areas to understand variances
Provide the central consolidation and review of individual business unit budgets, forecasts and corporate plans including ownership of reporting requirements for these within the Group’s BPC system
Lead the management for Rail of Risk on the 4Risk platform providing updates on mitigations along with identifying new risks and potential mitigations in conjunction with the relevant Managing / Functional Director and the Legal team
Expand the use of digital solutions within Rail Finance
Working with the Inventory & Forecasting team to monitor and help drive inventory reduction and reduce obsolescence costs.
 
Position in Organisation 
 
Reports into Financial Controller. Acts as finance lead on all issues relating to overheads and operations support. Senior manager interfacing with peers and Directors in appropriate functions, including working closely with Commercial MD and the Business Transformation Director and their teams.
Working for the Financial Controller to deliver the central financial reporting requirements for the Executive.
Working for the Financial Controller, and closely with Head of Finance – Commercial and business unit MD’s to manage the budget, forecast and planning cycles including consolidation, review of submissions and entry and reporting requirements within the Group’s BPC system.
Owning the 4Risk platform and managing the risk reviews with the relevant Director / Senior Manager and subsequent onward reporting to the Rail Exec and Group.
 
Qualifications & Education 
 
Essential:
Degree qualified ideally in a finance or business discipline.
Qualification in a professional accountancy qualification. (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Strong Mathematics capability and very strong excel capability
Highly IT literate with an understanding of how digital solutions can improve processes

Highly IT literate with experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Familiarity working with MRP systems, ideally SAP with a strong process mindset
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
 
 
 
 
Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required 
The role requires :
Strong analytical skills with an understanding of how to build effective reporting structures that enables budget holders to clearly understand their costs and drive business improvement
A keen ability to influence the senior budget holders to drive the right performance and behaviours.  Also a need to create a succinct summary of progress, issues and projects under way for the MD Commercial and Financial Controller.
Strong fiduciary responsibility as well as high level of confidentiality.
Qualified accountant with understanding of good governance and necessary segregation of duties 
required in finance processes
Strong process knowledge and understanding of SAP with an ability to quickly grasp new systems and associated reporting requirements
Good understanding of digital tools available and how processes can be automated (including use of RPA’s if applicable)
Strong influencing skills
