Our Client’s are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Material Control & Assets Team Manager to work at their Doncaster site.

Main Purpose of the Role
To manage and lead a team of material controllers ensuring through proactive management that the highest level of services are delivered to customers, both internal and external. Through the team manage the day to day material issues with the relevant supply chain ensuring availability of materials for the customer base. 
Ensure management of the repairable asset pool to maximise Unipart Rail’s product portfolio to meet business availability, gross inventory and margin targets.
 
Through the Supplier portal and team members 
Manage supplier delivery performance, addressing issues and delivering Continuous improvements using the Unipart Way tools and techniques. 
Utilising DILO and Supplier portal dashboard drive usage of the portal to deliver improved Back orders and overdue performance
Lead the team ensuring regular 121’s with all team members to identify development requirements, coach and manage them through the development process
Liaise with customer facing teams and other internal stakeholders to resolve escalation issues and understand unusual demand patterns and future plans. 
Responsible for float procurement decisions impacting margin & availability of product to customers.  Risk of error would results in spending money with no benefit to the customer, which could be unrecoverable
Required to make judgement calls based on knowledge & experience of the industry & materials /products or have the knowledge & confidence to know where to escalate.
 
Qualifications & Education 
Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Studies or appropriate professional qualification (MCIPS).
 
Experience & Proven Ability Required 
Experience in a similar role in the Rail industry would be a preference – can consider industry experience in Aerospace or Heavy Plant machinery/engineering.  Understanding the principles of the role & the desired output required for the role. Experience of managing Repairable (Rotable/Service exchange) Assets required.
Capable in the use of SQL.
Experience in application of inventory management principles
SAP Procurement Process knowledge or experience and understanding of planning with an ERP/MRP system.
