The Role

Exciting opportunity to work for an independent company dedicated to manufacturing specialist materials for industry and science – a strong global business based on delivering technical excellence and high standards of customer service to world-wide niche markets. Reporting into the HR Director and working alongside two generalist HR Mangers this is new role for a learning and development specialist to join the team to make a difference, design and deliver extensive and effective training/learning and development activities to continually develop our talent across the company whilst also providing HR generalist support.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- To contribute to the business success by training and developing our people, ensuring the workforce is able to meet the changing needs of the business.
- Foster a collaborative partnership with departmental managers to achieve the best result for the colleagues and the business.
- Collate and present a picture of current performance and capabilities, providing observations, including highlighting skills gaps analysis and areas of risks.
- Develop and implement a Learning and Development plan for each department in conjunction with the departmental manager.
- Design and introduce framework to identify, recognise and develop colleague talent at all levels across the business
- Introduce succession planning tools to help aid retention and provide clear, structured career paths throughout the business
- Review and design competencies across the business, 
- Create future leadership programmes and design broader training programmes to continuously improve Employee Engagement 
- Design career development paths, so ensuring effective retention levels across the organisation.
- Conducting future skill set analysis aligned to business needs moving forward - look where the business want to be and what skills we need now to support the business getting there
- Drive a positive customer focused environment that people feel contented and able to grow and develop to the best version of themselves.
- Collate all identified development needs for employees via Development Plans from employees and plan subsequent development accordingly 
- Introduce Performance Management tools to ensure the performance cycle is planned and delivered to support robust and effective performance management with the long-term intention of expanding on the talents and skills of all employees at all levels.
- Act as a central contact for all training and development needs for all employees
- Provide HR generalist support. 

Skills/Experience

- The successful candidate will need to be an experienced HR Generalist (CIPD Level 5) with proven L&D expertise and experience
- 5 years’ relevant experience 
- Track record of creating vison / strategy and translating into operational execution in HR and Talent management roles
- With a strong commercial acumen, a can-do approach, you will need to thrive in working on both operational and strategic L&D and HR initiatives. 
- Previous HR and Learning & Development experience, ideally within engineering/ manufacturing business.
- Experience in designing, developing, and executing innovative learning programmes to meet the business needs.
- Ability to deliver a responsive employee/management centred service
- A creative character to capture different learning styles
- A genuine passion and flare for people development
- A good understanding of the principles of the learning organisation and the importance of informal learning as well as formal training and management education.
- A confident professional with integrity, discretion, and the ability to develop trust with employees at all levels.
- Energetic, flexible, responsive, and hands-on, committed to providing a service that makes a difference.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work streams as well as ad hoc responsive tasks, balancing a range of priorities and deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and drive for continuous improvement.  
- Excellent presenting skills on and off electronic platforms
- HR team player with strong verbal and written communication skills for all levels 
- Succession planning and career pathways experience
