Our client is a rapidly expanding business to business service provider.

They are going through rapid growth and are recruiting for a new role of Purchasing & Supply Controller. The role is an exciting and unique opportunity for a high caliber, graduate level purchasing specialist, one that will add value to any career; as the company expands, opportunities will be abundant.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager you will primarily be responsible for the day to operation of the procurement services the company provides to its client base including Just in Time manufacturers. This service involves managing over £3 million per annum of spend and maintaining appropriate stock levels for over 1000 different parts. It is essential that all times inventory levels are minimised through proactive management of lead times while ensuring the clients manufacturing process is never impacted by stock shortages. You will also be responsible for entering all invoicing as well as placing orders.

The role will involve a company wide review of all internal processes to facilitate the identification of efficiencies that can be made through business process outsourcing. Following identification the role will require the ongoing management of the outsourced contracts including measurement to ensure the efficiencies match those initially identified.

You will also be expected to execute all elements of the internal purchasing requirement of the company ensuring that at all times rigorous cost control is maintained.

Required Skills and Experience

• Degree educated preferably in Business or/and Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualified or studying
• Three years experience of procurement, desirable within the manufacturing and/or logistics sectors
• Experience of dealing with private sector outsourcing, preferably in a multiple areas
• Confident and experienced in negotiation and running tender processes
• Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning
• Able to bring about maximised financial and operational performance
• Commercially focused and bottom line orientated
• Quality orientated and customer service driven
• Professional, approachable and helpful person, comfortable working individually and as part of a team
• Able to maintain excellent working relationships at all levels within the organisation
• Advanced knowledge of purchasing systems and Microsoft applications
• Understanding of WMS systems coupled with an understanding of audit and procedural documentation.
• Previous experience using CRM databases
