Cameron James Professionals Recruitment are working with the UK leading Logistic companies that are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Controller on an initial 9-12-month contract with the possibility of a permanent positon.

Successful Coordinators will have UK based logistics or Buying experience preferably within the Manufacturing market and be able to comfortably manage & control daily work flow within a high paced environment. The ideal candidate will also have had experience within inventory control to ensure no stock shortage.

The right candidate will report directly to the Purchasing manager and be responsible for the day to day operations of the procurement services the company provides to its client base including JIT manufactures.

Some of the responsibilities include:

• Effective management of client purchasing contracts including supplier relations, quality control and cost reduction
• Effective stock control to ensure continuity of supply without compromising inventory turns or budgets
• Identify and execute outsourcing opportunities across a range of services and resources
• Manage the successful execution of tenders across a wide range of goods and services
• Be responsible for developing, implementing and managing contracts and service level agreements for all procurement activity
• Planning, preparation and execution of effective procurement practices as required by the company
• Analyse company expenditure on various goods and services and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Work to promote continuous improvement amongst the supply base to maximise performance and efficiency
• Work with suppliers to ensure the goods and services supplied meet the required specification
• Placement of purchase orders for goods and services and entry of invoices as required by the company

Required Skills

• Degree educated preferably in Business or and Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualified or studying
• Significant experience of procurement, desirable within the manufacturing and logistics sectors
• Experience of dealing with private sector outsourcing, preferably in a multiple area
• Confident and experienced in negotiation and running tender processes
• Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning
• Able to bring about maximised financial and operational performance
• Advanced knowledge of purchasing systems and Microsoft applications
• Understanding of WMS systems coupled with an understanding of audit and procedural documentation.
• Previous experience using CRM databases
