Working in partnership with a specialist law firm in Leeds City Centre I am currently recruiting for a Patent Secretary to join a very busy team in a vital role within a busy and professional office environment.Your role as Patent Secretary will be to provide a high quality, timely and comprehensive secretarial support service for a group of fee earners at their Leeds Office. You should have at least 1 year of previous secretarial experience within a professional services environment, ideally in a patent firm.
As a Patent Secretary you will be responsible for:
• Writing standard letters and emails to clients and patent offices
• Invoicing / Billing
• Answering phones and taking messages
• Booking travel/accommodation when required
• Diary management / Case Diary management
• Some copy and audio typing of correspondence and patent specifications
• Assisting attorneys to meet deadline
• Online filing at European Patent Office, UK Intellectual Property Office and OHIM
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
• An ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads of self and others.
• Be a team player who will willingly assist colleagues when required.
• Have very high levels of attention to detail and consistently accurate work.
• Superb administration skills; be organised, thorough and effective.
• A proactive approach, being a self- starter who requires very little supervision
• A friendly and pleasant personality, able to communicate effectively at all times
Working hours are from 9.00am : 5.30pm, Monday to Friday and the company is based in a fantastic location in the city centre. You will receive a salary of up to £26,000 per annum depending on your experience.

Please Note: The role of a Patent Secretary is very different from that of a Secretary, in that the work is complex and has many varying aspects to it. There will be a requirement to learn the complex processes of filing patent applications and documentation that goes with it.
