An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a global legal frim based t their office in Cambridge as an Interim Financial Controller. This position is reporting directly to the CFO and would be responsible for a finance team of 35 staff made up of various teams such as tax accountants, management accountants, operations manager and purchasing manager and their respective teams.

Ideally as a Financial Controller you will have an understanding of the UK GAAP, Solicitors Accounting Rules and other regulatory requirements

The purpose of the role is to ensure the running of a strong financial department. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the firms` management and financial reporting systems including financial planning, effective delivery of finance operations, working with capital management, LLP and partners tax compliance and procurement.

The main responsibilities of the financial controller will include:

• Leadership : lead and motivate the finance team to deliver the teams objectives
• Business insights : make recommendations to the CFO, cost cutting exercises, efficiency improvements
• Statutory procedures and compliance : ensure all compliance is met within the finance teams, reports to internal control of risk committee
• Management and financial reporting : overseeing the production of management reports and manage the financial planning process
• Finance operations : overseeing all aspects of the finance team to ensure all work is completed in an accurate and timely manner
• WIP Management : ensure all documents are kept up to date at all times
• Credit control - ensure credit control procedures are strictly followed and enforced
• Taxation : working with the tax manager to ensure all company tax computation and partners tax returns are completed on time
• Procurement : working alongside the purchase manager to ensure that procurement protocol is consistently adopted.
