I am currently working with a prestigious shoe manufacturing company based in Northampton to recruit for a Financial Controller. The main purpose of this role is to streamline procedures and improve finance reporting and controls to result in greater manufacturing efficiency. As this position is within a manufacturing company previous experience of manufacturing process flows and efficiency gains, particularly knowledge of a lean environment is essential.

The main duties of the Financial Controller include:

• To take responsibility for a small team
• Responsibility for all external reporting to Government agencies and tax authorities
• To co-ordinate and produce an annual budget and provide regular updates
• To produce effective and useful monthly reporting to directors
• To produce targeted and challenging weekly reporting to managers and decision makers
• To ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are performed on a monthly basis
• Liaison with external accountants for tax and annual audit
• To work with operational and commercial colleagues to calculate product costs and devise appropriate and effective pricing structures
• To control cash and foreign exchange exposure
• To ensure that the business has the right information to support any significant decisions being made
• Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained

The ideal candidate will be ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified with post qualification industry experience. It is essential you have advanced excel skills to include Pivot Tables, VLookups and Macros. Experience of costing and pricing is vital for this position.
