Risk Analyst Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Beverly, East Yorkshire for an Analyst with a clear ambition for progression to join a growing team of Risk Professionals. This position is ideal for someone interested in working in a broadly scoped Risk related role and who would relish exposure to a range of different business areas and stakeholders.

This role has significant scope to grow, bounded only by your own ambition. While ideally looking for someone able to hit the ground running in most aspects of the role; provisions of training and support will be provided to develop and grow ideal candidate into the position.

Responsibilities

• supporting the Risk Director in ensuring a proportionate, but nevertheless robust, Risk Assurance framework is in place to demonstrate proper of oversight, compliance and control of all business risks, and develops alongside implementation of our strategic plan.
• Conducting regular risk implementation checks to an agreed plan.
• Carrying out thematic assessments to evaluate the adequacy of risk management frameworks` design and the effectiveness of implementation, making proportionate recommendations for action, obtaining support for their implementation from colleagues, and tracking their implementation and effectiveness.
• Regularly refreshing and facilitating regular updating of the society`s Risk Register.
• Maintaining and managing the implementation of the society`s incident reporting arrangements.
• Identifying and evaluating emerging risks to operations and delivery of the strategic plan.
• Formally reporting on the outcome of monitoring activities to the senior management team and the Board Risk Committee.
• Advising on and supporting 1st line of defence risk management activities.

The Knowledge & Skills you`ll have

• Broad understanding of regulated retail savings and mortgages activities.
• Familiarity with the principles of risk management and the working within the constraints of a risk management framework. (A quality assurance background would be an acceptable alternative).
• More detailed knowledge and experience in one or more of the following risk areas: credit, operational, outsourcing, conduct, financial crime, data protection.
• Ability to research a topic, gather information and critically evaluate.
• Attention to detail, ability to deal with ambiguity and make reasoned judgements.
• Communication skills, verbal and written, to communicate effectively across the business including the Board.
• Robust, resilient approach with the capability to challenge at all levels and be receptive to alternative points of view before coming to conclusions.

Salary

• Commensurate up to £30K DOE. • • Should the successful candidate require a significant development plan, starting salary will be lower with an intention to achieve this level subject to achievement of agreed development objectives.
