Working in partnership with a large housing company based in West Yorkshire we are currently recruiting for a Litigation Manager to join their remarkably busy, and highly successful team. This is a great opportunity for a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister with strong managerial experience to run an already successful team whilst adding great value and to have the opportunity to develop your own skillset by covering for the Director of Legal & Governance when required.

As the Litigation Manager you will:

Have line management responsibilities of the Litigation Team, including day to day supervision of their activities, providing guidance and appropriate training, conducting regular appraisals, facilitating regular team meetings and contributing to longer-term workforce planning to ensure an effective service is provided
Provide comprehensive, high level, effective and relevant advice and support to the Company.
Prepare and conduct legal proceedings brought by and against the Company
Lead on SLA’s and legal work relating to high volume and/or complex litigation work and/or sensitive matters.
Develop, lead and manage a comprehensive and effective litigation team, including developing policies and procedures and to undertake the Company’s litigation work to ensure a comprehensive service to the company, its board, committees and sub committees and external clients
Assist the Director of Legal & Governance in fulfilling the overall objectives of the litigation team by the provision of high-quality professional services, including preparation and analysis of reports for the Board.

The successful candidate will:

Be a Qualified Solicitor / Barrister with strong experience of line managing staff
Have significant experience of working in a legal practice including conducting civil litigation matters, particularly in relation to housing matters.
Have experience of court and written advocacy, with an ability to demonstrate track record of successful advocacy in the County Court
Have experience of reviewing and advising on SLA’s
Have a strong working knowledge of housing, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, SLAs and civil litigation practice and procedure and the law relating to this
Be a strong Team Manager with the ability, credibility and confidence to make an immediate impact
