Job Information

I have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Administrator, to join a well-respected steel stockholder and service company, who specialises in the supply of plate, profiles and in-house processing across major markets including Naval, Marine, Construction and Infrastructure sectors.

 

Initially a 6-12 month contract, with the potential to be permanent for the right candidate.

 

The ideal candidate will hold previous experience within a similar position. Bringing their enthusiasm and high level of motivation to be part of a successful team, reporting to the Naval Business Manager, supporting the construction and maintenance of Britain’s naval fleet.

 

Job Summary

·        Build and maintain good working relationships with clients

·        Respond to customer quotation requests in a timely manner, offering best value for money, as well as adhering to contract agreements

·        Sourcing non-stocked products, negotiating best prices and raising purchase orders, whilst ensuring compliance with the company’s purchasing procedures

·        Maintaining visibility of the customers’ pipeline of requirements and raising call-off orders on SAP system in good time to allow efficient material processing

·        Develop extensive product knowledge and understand the customers’ quality requirements for critical build materials

·        Ensuring that all orders are progressed regularly to meet delivery deadlines

·        Assist the Naval Business Manager with the preparation of all new Naval tenders

·        Keep accurate inventory records of all free-issue material

·        Maintain all certification and testing records in line with legal and contractual requirements

·        Assist in complaint investigation and resolution and preventing additional issues arising.

·        Assist other team members during busy periods

 

 

Essential Skills & Experience

·        Significant experience in commercial management of large and complex customer accounts

·        Experience of working in a customer-focused sales role

·        Excellent communication (both written and verbally), IT and problem-solving skills

·        Be resourceful, analytical and the ability to work well within your team and other departments

·        Be knowledgeable of sales and procurement. Ideally within the steel industry - not essential
