We have partnered exclusively with an established manufacturing business based in West London and leading on the the recruitment of an Operations Director.
 
This role would be ideal for an experienced Operations Manager looking for the next step in their career or an Operations Director looking for a new challenge with a growing and well-established organisation, that is part of a wider group. Candidates will need to have experience within sheet metal / metal fabrication (or similar) and hold strong operations experience.
 
Reporting into the MD and working as part of the senior management team, the main focus of the role will be to lead, manage and motivate the Production, Logistics, Facilities, Planning and Procurement functions of this 9m TO business. Key duties and responsibilities will include;
 
-Overseeing an operation of 50 people, including operations, quality, purchasing, production, logistic and design teams
-Management, motivation and development of staff to meet the needs of the business and to exceed customer expectation
-Preparing operational and procurement budgets and reports.
-Oversee and lead purchasing and the development and implementation of procurement strategies that are innovative cost-effective.
-Communicate and build relationships with suppliers to ensure they meet requirements, and that procedures and administration of paperwork is managed effectively and efficiently
-Oversee the planning and scheduling function to interpret and action sales data and inventory analysis, in addition to seeking continuous efficiency improvements
-Oversee and ensure the availability and accurate picking, dispatch, and delivery of parts in line with forecasts and customer demands
-Support the sourcing and engaging of reliable suppliers and vendors to secure best value terms.
-Develop a culture where Health & Safety, Quality and Service are promoted and enforced and integral to processes and customer centric philosophy
-Ensure Lean tools and principles are used to promote efficiency, best practice, and continuous improvement
-Devise and implement an effective maintenance system to minimise machine breakdown and lost time
-Responsibility for building and facilities management including planned maintenance and security
-Participate in all initiatives to improve profit within areas identified for improvement, including achievement of monthly targets, and purchasing KPI’s

For this role it is essential that candidates have proven operational experience with a similar sized business, sheet metal / metal fabrication (or similar) and be confident leading and managing all operational activities for the business.
