Cameron James Professional Recruitment are working with a National business service provider who are looking to appoint an HR Manager for a Fixed Term of 10 months to cover a maternity leave. The role of the HR Manager is to manage the HR function with a view to continually improve staff retention, development and performance and strategically align personnel policies with the businesses’ goals and vision.

Responsibilities:
• Manage an HR service across the group companies, advising directors and team leaders on employment legislation and best practice. Review and update the employee handbook, terms and conditions of employment contract and work on ad-hoc projects with directors as required.
• Co-ordinate company recruitment policy and manage recruitment activity for all positions.
• Manage recruitment and personnel administration, data and employee files.
• Conduct annual in-depth salary surveys to ensure the company remains competitive in terms of salary and benefits.
• Plan, organise and conduct training courses and a company induction programme. Ensure training needs are identified and appropriate courses are designed and run. Monitor the effectiveness of training to ensure quality and consistency.
• Update monthly payroll spreadsheet and employee spreadsheet (database) with information on starters; leavers; salary reviews; bonuses; bounty payments. Liaise with Finance and calculate company sick pay and update home addresses, contact numbers; promotions and salary reviews; disciplinary history and training records.
• Hold exit interviews for all leavers, review reasons for leaving and identify any concerns and make appropriate recommendations to directors. Complete references where needed or requested.
• Handle employee queries and concerns as appropriate, attempting to prevent the escalation of issues. Ensure employee grievances get resolved.
• Provide guidance to the Employee Support function on HR related queries from field employees. Manage and liaise with solicitors on any legal matters that may arise.
• Assist Team Leaders to resolve performance, attendance or conduct disciplinary issues, advise on procedure, chair disciplinary and appeal hearings and produce correspondence, ensuring the Company is protected from litigation.
• Ensure an effective appraisal process is in operation and review appraisals and/or bonus results for training needs and potential disciplinary action or grievances.

Person Specification:
• Proven generalist experience in HR or similar environment & CIPD qualified or studying towards qualification
• Self-starter, proactive thinker & doer
• Personal organisation and prioritisation
• Knowledge of employment legislation, best practice and current regulations.
• Business orientated with common sense approach
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
