Our client is a rapidly expanding wholesaler in the multi temperature foods sector, operating on a global basis; they have won quality awards galore overt the last few years.

Due to continued expansion they now seek a Transport Manager.

Reporting to the Depot Manager, you will have responsibility for a range of vehicles in the fleet of 60+ vehicles and the drivers who are delivering to retail, wholesale and end users (both B2C and B2B).

The role’s hours are 6.00hrs to 15.00hrs Monday to Friday with the need to work some Saturdays as the need arises.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the O License undertakings are met, by ensuring that all vehicles are maintained and inspected at the agreed 6 weekly intervals/that the vehicles are not overloaded/ that the drivers do not speed and that the drivers meet the EU drivers hours regulations
• Organise and plan effective use of staff and the control of costs regarding the use of agency staff
• Generate excellent team spirit by involvement of staff at every opportunity
• Control of driver overtime
• Accurately completing the Payroll/bonus spread sheet ensuring all agreed additional payments or deductions are entered in the relevant columns before sending to payroll
• Briefing on the day to day operation
• Liaise with all relevant departments to identify and resolve possible conflicts regarding delivery requirements.
• Ensure that all drivers comply with the relevant legal requirements regarding rest and duty times
• Ensure that all vehicles are dispatched at their agreed times of departure
• Reviewing routes so as to optimize the fleet usage
• Liaise with relevant vehicle repair agents regarding all legal requirements i.e. MOT, tachograph calibration and the timely repairs to vehicles whilst controlling costs.
• Ensure that the drivers complete a daily walk around check of their vehicles before starting their daily duties
• Daily report on agreed KPI`s using the relevant spread sheets

Other Duties:
• Ensure all drivers meet the driver house rules
• Download of vehicle digital tachograph every 21 days and the upload of stored digital information to the analysis bureau
• Download of drivers digital card and upload of that information to the analysis bureau
• Briefing the drivers on any infringements on drivers hours and tachograph offenses as detailed on the analysis reports returned from analysis bureau
• Up keep of all the relevant spreadsheets
• Ensure the control of fuel by use of fuel cards

Skills & Experience:
• Minimum of 4 years experience within a Transport Management role, preferably within the food wholesale sector.
• CPC National qualification
• Good communication skills : both verbal and written.
• Able to work to strict, tight deadlines.
• Must have advanced Excel, Word and Outlook skills.
