SENIOR BUYER

Cameron James Professional Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Buyer to work for a construction organisation based in Kent.

They are looking for a Senior Buyer to ensure the efficient running of the materials and sub-contract purchasing function and co-ordinate with other departments to ensure financial control of all materials and sub-contracts purchased for building operations.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a similar role in the construction sector. They will be ideally have a degree or similar in Construction and must have experience of being a materials buyer with a good working knowledge the construction industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

� You will ensure all materials are delivered to sites in line with current build programmes, specification and are purchased at competitive prices in line with the companies group & regional deals where applicable.
� You will ensure the procurement of all sites/buying phases are continually monitored against budget.
� Responsible for producing monthly budgetary control reports on all materials purchased for each site.
� Required to assist the estimating department with obtaining pre tender quotations and resolving material specification issues.
� You will produce accurate site specific material schedules and process material orders.
� You will liaise with other regional buyers to negotiate national bulk price agreements / group deals.
� Process site purchase orders for replacement materials and produce monthly reports detailing expenditure.
� Responsible for compliance with the clients environmental. Security and disabled requirements.
� Continually monitor material lead times, keeping build and site managers informed, instigate forward material allocation when necessary.
� Manage estimating functions for production of accurate estimated costs for housing, roads and sewers.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

� Degree in Construction or similar, or, HNC / ONC in Construction or similar
� Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, or working towards full membership or working towards being a chartered member of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)
� Experience as a materials buyer
� Understanding of changes to regulations and legislation
� A good knowledge or construction methods and materials
