Job Information

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Purchasing for a multi-national FMCG company. The role will be based out of their West Yorkshire site, with responsibility for other UK sites.

Role Overview

The role will assume full responsibility for spend in all categories at group level. Reporting to the main board of Directors, you will develop and transition the current Buying team into a world class function.

Specific responsibilities include;

• To manage the group spend
• To identify and source products with the mantra of high value, high quality for all materials and services
• To deliver a commercially focused Group purchasing strategy
• Build and maintain strong working relationships to deliver change
• Create and deliver a category management ideology to procurement
• Develop and implement a formal supplier governance framework
• To lead, manage and support the tendering process for all large spend areas

Candidate Requirements;

• Demonstrable commercial success in procurement at board level, within a high volume multi-site manufacturing business
• Degree calibre education and/or hold MCIPS level 5 or above
• Significant experience in developing and implementing procurement strategy at group level
• First class negotiation skills and the ability to lead key negotiations at senior level
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of implementing eProcurement/IT systems
• Extensive experience managing complex supplier and internal stakeholder relationships
• Experience of delivering change programs both group wide and at team level
• Experience of international procurement
• Suitable knowledge of manufacturing and technological processes
