Cameron James Professional Recruitment are working closely with an award winning MGA based in Leeds as they look to recruit a Product Manager for Commercial Motor risks.Reporting to the Technical Director the purpose of the role is to pro-actively manage product books, initiating and implementing product and price changes aligned to strategy to ensure delivery of the required return and desired income level.
Key duties include;
• Construct annual product business strategy, considering internal and external factors.
• Management of product budget/forecast reviews
• Develop and ensure adherence to the underwriting strategy through Senior underwriters
• Work with support functions to develop rating models and use appropriate and available MI to assess account performance, in order to achieve required targets (volumes, GWP and ULR’s)
• Manage the senior underwriters around the delivery of market leading product coverage and policy wordings, underwriting framework including underwriting guides, licences, QC’s and associated training and market leading rates/pricing structure
• Working with the Senior Underwriters, Distribution teams and Product performance analyst to support the development of new products
• Undertake appraisals, support and development of any staff who have a direct reporting line
• Develop sound competitor/market analysis framework, ensuring utilisation in strategy, product coverage and pricing decisions
• Ensure adequate underwriting framework is in place to support high service quality and proficiency through senior underwriters
• Adopting a customer centric approach, lifting the brand proposition and moving away from commoditisation
• Support of key initiatives and projects as required
Skills and experience;
• Working to ACII or other relevant qualification would be advantageous
• Extensive Underwriting experience with general commercial or personal insurance
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills
• Good working knowledge of local market

• Proven experience of being accountable for profitable underwriting performance
