Cameron James Professional Recruitment are working with a National Charity who are looking to appoint a HR Advisor for an initial 12 months FTC. The HR Advisor will assist the HR Team in delivering a professional and effective HR service, by providing proactive advice, support and training on all employee relations matters and recruitment campaigns with regard to policy, procedure and within current legislation.

Responsibilities:

• To assist the HR Manager in providing effective case management of people related issues such as performance management, capability, disciplinary, employment tribunals, grievance and absence management
• To assist the HR Manager with all aspects of recruitment and selection processes as and when required; This could include co-ordinating recruitment activities, using e-recruitment, sorting out shortlisting meetings, sitting on interview panels and conclude the recruitment processes in line with procedure, including DBS, checks references, eligibility to work documents etc.
• To provide advice, coaching and training on all employee relations issues to line managers and employees when appropriate.
• To develop effective working relationships with the key stakeholders and to promote good employee relations across the organisation.
• To assist the HR manager with all change management processes and restructures, including changes to job description, and terms and conditions.
• To take part and contribute to the internal job evaluation process as necessary.
• To keep abreast on all changes, relevant legislations and other developments affecting the HR Unit, linking this into the team meetings and the HR strategy to ensure compliance and best practice is maintained.
• Where required to assist in the development, preparation, and implementation of all policies and procedures ensuring that these are compliant with legislation and follow best practice.
• To provide and analyse management information/workforce analytics to the HR Team as necessary.
• To assist the Unit in the delivery of HR related projects identified by the HR Manager.
• To visit other sites throughout the United Kingdom Territory providing human resources support and advice as necessary.
• To attend and participate in the weekly HR Manager’s catch-up meetings and monthly team meeting within the Human Resources Unit.
• To deal with correspondence relating to employees and staff issues as directed by the HR Manager.
• Undertake any other duties as required for the effective running of the unit and the organisation.


Person Specification:

• Experience of recruitment, selection and interviewing within an Equal Opportunities framework
• Knowledge and experience of handling employee relation matters
• Experience in advising and coaching line managers on HR issues
• Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and codes of practice
• Proven experience of working to tight deadlines and working under pressure.
• Competent IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good knowledge of employment law
• Experience of providing training to managers
• Experience of working in the not for profit sector
• Experience of working in Social / Community areas of work
• Understanding of current trends and Government initiatives within Social work
• Experience of dealing with Employment Tribunal cases /Knowledge of ER procedures and processes such as employment tribunals, disability, diversity and equal opportunities
• Experience of developing training programmes
• Full or part qualified with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification.
• Degree in a relevant subject i.e. Business Studies.
• Ability to organise and prioritise your own workload.
• Demonstrate good time management skills
• Effective listening skills.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing ie report writing, correspondence etc;
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
• Presentation skills
