Job Overview:

• Responsibility for the verification of group company specials
• Working closely with company sales reps & estimating department to ensure the correct product is specified in a very competitive market place.
• Generating market knowledge of commercial and competitors
• Assisting the ‘written off stock scheme’, ensuring these are reviewed and actioned in a timely & professional manner.



Job Duties:

• Using the in-house computer system to manage trade agreements and lead price negotiation with vendors for specials procurement.
• Checking and verification of details for all specials with vendors prior to system entry, ensuring the best possible service without compromising relationship with suppliers and vendors.
• Liaison with external Group sales personnel on special product issues.
• Resolution of technical queries in a timely and efficient manner.
• Updating current trade agreements and correcting pricing.
• Checking the forecast report to identify potential price increases.
• Check for repeat specials for potential change to a catalogue or stock line. Also reporting on discontinued items are deleted from the special item field.
• Maintenance of monthly management reports on cost savings, allowing for stock orders to be used bargaining tools.
• Offer experience & guidance to potential new vendors and suppliers, ensuring ‘like for like’ or better options are gained for the company.
• Visit potential suppliers, when required.
• Assist estimating / reps and offer proactive experience & guidance all as detailed above.
• To review / action technical drawings if required.
• Pro-actively manage the product sourcing process with the purchasing team and warehouse in relation to cancelled specials, in addition to negotiating the option of all returned specials.
• To assist other departments within the company, when necessary
• To fully participate in appraisals and departmental meetings.
• To carry out other duties, that may be delegated.



Experience Required

• 5 years experience of buying finished product and negotiating price in a bespoke environment
• A thorough understanding of efficient stock principles
• MCIPS qualified
• Experience of using advanced Microsoft packages and bespoke databases
