Buyer/Materials Controller


Job Summary
This role requires someone with varied buying experience used to dealing with suppliers in the UK and Europe and buying components as well as finished products. We need someone who can work well with different departments, is adaptable, has ERP experience and ideally has worked within a lean manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interface with business units to schedule/prioritise production based on customer demand.
• Create purchase orders, requisitions and releases through the use of purchasing reports.
• Plan and order materials ensuring continuity of production.
• Follow up with suppliers on late orders and expedite raw material deliveries to stock.
• Ensure that KPI's are achieved and supplier KPI’s are produced and distributed.
• Support all purchasing and project activities.
• Support continuous improvement activities that result in increasing product quality and delivery whilst reducing costs in order to maintain the company’s competitive edge in the market.


Required Skills and Experience

• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven experience in a purchasing, expediting and planning environment desired.
• Good numeracy and verbal/written communication skills.
• Good IT skills including ERP/MRP systems
• Adaptable to changes related to continuous improvement (e.g. Lean Manufacturing).
• Ability to maintain control under stress situations
