Cameron James Professional Recruitment are working with a National Retail organisation who are looking to appoint an ER Manager on a 4 day per week basis for a 1 years FTC. The ER Manager will increase the opportunities for commercial success by ensuring employee relations, company policies and procedures for UK and Ireland all support the creation of a high performing and legally compliant culture with an alignment of interest across the organisation.Responsibilities:
Provide coaching and practical support for line managers dealing with complex ER issues, both face to face and over the telephone, ensuring they learn from each situation.
Support key stakeholders and line managers to ensure that they effectively deal with poor performance in a consistent, fair and legally compliant way.
Create and deliver appropriate training and development to ensure line managers are fully competent and confident in dealing with ER issues (e.g. suspension, disciplinary, capability, grievances, dismissals, appeals etc).
Develop, implement and maintain toolkits and frameworks for Managers to ensure they have the appropriate materials and tools to manage ER effectively.
Develop effective mechanisms to ensure Line Managers and the HR team is kept up-to-date on employment legislation, proactively sharing best practice.
Effectively and promptly manage long term sickness absence, ensuring each case is dealt with appropriately taking into account both individual and business needs.
Work with the HR Business Partner (Operations) with employee forums and work councils to create an engaged and involved workforce.
Support business with change initiatives ensuring legal compliance, employee engagement, buy-in and smooth transition (e.g. acquisitions, disposals, department restructures, redundancies).
Ensure content of employment contracts, statement of terms and handbooks are legally compliant and reflect the company culture and values.
Create and implement detailed ER plans for change initiatives mentioned above, ensuring all line managers are aligned and deliver their actions to the required standards.
Manage all Employment Tribunal claims and Settlement Agreements.
Design and implement company policies and procedures that are legally compliant and bring to life the company culture and values.
Create and maintain legally compliant standard ER letters and management guides for line managers.
Put in place and maintain simple, transparent and structured ER processes to ensure there is overall alignment with other areas of HR.
Consistently deliver an accurate and timely response to transactional activity and business issues.
Manage 3rd party relationships with external Lawyers and service partners.
Person Specification:
Although a degree is not specifically required, candidates will need to be at least of graduate caliber and operating at the level of CIPD qualified. Post graduate Employee Relations/Employment Law qualifications would be an advantage.
Up to date knowledge of employment law and ability to apply it in a commercial environment.
Experience in a senior Employee Relations management role
Improved line manager capability in dealing with ER issues, (e.g. absence, sickness, performance)
Created and implemented full action plans for department restructures
Provided line managers with advice on both complex and day to day employee disputes both over the telephone and face to face (e.g. disciplinaries, capability, grievances, dismissal, appeals).
Planned and implemented change across the whole business, or key elements of it.
Created and implemented company policies and procedures.
Managed external employment lawyers.
Managed Employment Tribunal claims.
Managed and addressed long term sickness absence.
Designed and implemented employee contracts and handbooks.
Designed line manager ER toolkits and frameworks.
Created, negotiated and put in place compromise agreements.
Managed and implemented TUPE transfers
Planned and implemented collective and individual consultations/redundancies.
