I am currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager in Tyne and Wear.

The purpose of the role is manage and develop the Engineering activities within the engineering site, through effective day to day management and the implementation of appropriate management and engineering practices to drive a continuous improvement in engineering performance.

The successful candidate will have worked in a similar position. They will have experience of managing people and managing complex project on time and in budget. They will ideally also have an engineering degree.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, manage and oversee the daily functions, operations and activities of the engineering teams to continuously improve organisational productivity and customer service
• Develop the team and team members in order to improve the effectiveness of the department
• Manage and monitor complex projects, on time and within budget
• Responsible for performance management based on KPIs, timelines and activity plans. To ensure the team achieve their full working potential through on-going updates, appraisals, addressing any knowledge and skills gaps that may be in evidence.
• Making decisions and Solving problems : Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Responsible for the team’s contribution to the continuous improvement of plant and equipment through the introduction and management of robust, proactive maintenance systems
• Ensure full compliance with appropriate health and safety and environmental standards
• To continuously develop and implement a cost effective preventive maintenance regime in line with the maintenance strategy
• To ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards and strategy for the business


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Ideally possess a BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience within a similar role
• Demonstrate experience regarding achievements and implementing significant changes
• Self management for completing tasks and ability to raise roadblocks in timely manner
• Demonstrated People management experience within a high paced automotive environment
• Ability to lead by example and coach the team members
• Strong capability of Root Cause analysis and problem solving using engineering tools and techniques e.g. FMEA, 5 Why analysis, PDCA
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Budget management experience
• Continuous improvement attitude
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of compliance, regarding procedures and tasks
