Job Information

Cameron James Professional Recruitment are working with a Legal services firm who are looking to appoint a HR Assistant for a FTC of 6-8 months.

• Advising employees on a variety of HR services and dealing with or escalating other issues as they arise in an appropriate and sensitive manner
• Answering and initiating communications on the telephone and in person, responding to queries, taking and passing on accurate messages
• Advising on and administering the maternity and paternity processes
• Working with accounts to produce the monthly payroll
• Contributing to the review of HR policies and procedures
• Contributing to the review of benefits
• Contributing to the review of HR-related technology
• Providing job references for ex and current staff where appropriate with HOD approval
• Administering the life assurance and income protection system with changes to staff data
• Administering the pension system with new joiner details and any alterations (including auto-enrolment)
• Uploading to the Intranet of HR news/announcements
• Planning and delivering the new joiner induction programme
• Preparing data for monthly HR report and other statistics and reports as necessary to comply with various legal and other data requirements
• Updating of the HR section of the Office Manual as requested/necessary to reflect new employment legislation and staff procedures
• Administration of staff appraisals
• Typing correspondence, reports, tables, minutes, spreadsheets, emails, employment contracts and other documentation as necessary
• File management, ensuring filing is up to date and correct and that information is easily accessible, including e-filing
• Diary management - arranging meetings, interviews and some travel arrangements
• Attending meetings and interviews and taking and typing up notes
• Keeping abreast of relevant employment law, HR-related issues and general current HR affairs
• Undertaking other ad hoc duties and projects as delegated from time


Person Specifications:

• CIPD qualified or equivalent
• Well organised, uses initiative, prioritises appropriately, applies self, shows attention to detail, manages own workload and meets deadlines
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills (respectful, positive, articulate, professional and sympathetic)
• Delivers helpful internal and external client services with a “can do” approach, shows commercial awareness and represents the department/Firm appropriately
• Shares information and ideas
• Accepts and follows instructions, listens, makes notes, questions appropriately, co-operates
• Shows sound judgement, acts within boundaries
