Cameron James are delighted to be partnering with a leading not for profit organisation in their search for a Finance Director.

We are looking for an adaptable senior finance professional who is comfortable operating at board level, being a key player in shaping the future strategy of the organisation and being a strong voice for finance. Allied to this it is also important that the candidate has a willingness to take a more hands on approach to the day to day running of the finance function as you will be part of a small team.

A commercially astute mind set combined with an understanding of how the not for profit sector operates are two of the key attributes the client is looking for.

Responsibilities:

• Manage reporting staff ensuring that they are appropriately trained and developed and that skills and abilities are deployed for optimum performance.
• By example, encourage the development of a leadership style that seeks out the benefits of collaborative action whilst emphasising the importance of individual accountability.

• Participate as an active member of the Senior Management Team; contribute to the strategic management of the organisation and work closely with colleagues to facilitate effective operations which are consistent with the overall aims and objectives of the business.
• Ensuring that sound financial systems and practices are always in place.
• Develop and implement policies for the management of the organisations financial requirements including special project grants and funds raised for redevelopment.
• Prepare business/financial plans for new initiatives and special projects.
• Support staff in developing financial budgets and plans for growth.

• Prepare the annual budget for the trading companies which include financial and visitor attendance forecasts on a month-by-month basis.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, disseminate information to colleagues as appropriate and liaise with auditors on all matters related to the statutory accounts.
• Monitor cost efficiencies and effectiveness and recommend alterations which will enhance the organsiations financial position.
• Support the Commercial Manager in driving up revenue and improving profit margins. Ensure that financial systems comply with statutory requirements and procedures.
• Ensure the effective administration of the monthly payroll process and the stakeholder and private pension schemes.
• Liaise with the Trustees and provide financial information as required.

• Develop and implement sound financial controls and procedures, Observe all health and safety procedures so that risks to the health and safety of staff, children in our care and visitors are minimised.

Key competencies:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Previous experience of working in a senior finance role
• Strategic minded individual comfortable operating at board level
• Experience of working in a not for profit organisation
• Ability to work in a hands-on manner in a busy environment
• Experienced in payroll management and administration
• Demonstrated initiative and good problem-solving skills
• Extremely efficient and dedicated.
