Cameron James are working with an ambitious and rapidly expanding SME who are looking for a Management Accountant.
Our client, a business that has gone from trading from a single market stall over 30 years ago to a business that is now turning over 14 million pounds is looking for an experienced, commercially focussed Management Accountant with the ability to really explore the story behind the numbers.

Reporting to and working closely with the leadership team, your role will focus on the preparation of the monthly management accounts pack and profitability analysis; the delivery of quality and timely financial and management information; cash forecasting bank reconciliations; costing and variance analysis; and the ongoing review and development of systems, processes and controls.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring company financial affairs are run efficiently; operate in line with current best practice accounting policies and procedures; and comply with all regulatory, statutory and tax requirements
• Providing inspiration, direction, motivation and leadership to all Finance team members and staff, playing a key role in employee development and training through sharing experience, knowledge and skills
• the company’s financial performance (particularly profitability and cash) is optimised by the use of effective and efficient management systems
• the quality of financial and management reporting is in line with current best practice
• Ensuring variances to standards employed or agreed budgets (and any abnormal costs) are brought to the attention of the Directors and operational managers in a timely manner, and that corrective actions are identified and implemented

• Assume overall responsibility for the financial management and performance of the business: • • financial systems and controls
• • working capital, cash and debt management, cash flow forecasting
• • strategic and operational budgeting
• • capital expenditure programmes


• Provide commercially focused, relevant and timely management information and analysis which supports the Directors and the management teams in their decision making processes
• Provide profitability information capable of being analysed using a series of parameters including client, site, project and department.
• Perform a continuous review of the internal controls to ensure that procedures are adequate and are operating effectively in order to safeguard the Group’s resources
• Manage banking and ABL relationships and ensure cash and bank reporting requirements are fully satisfied

• Prepare detailed budgets and cash flows working closely with the leadership team and budget holders
• Provide comprehensive monthly board pack and ad hoc financial information to the Board on a timely and accurate basis
• Prepare an annual accounts file for auditors and draft statutory accounts. Act as the first point of contact for the auditors, and communicate with them to ensure all questions can be and are answered efficiently

Key competencies:

• Experience of working directly with board members
• Previous experience of managing a small finance team
• Strong Excel skills
• The ability to offer detailed analysis of financial information
