Our client is an MGA that focuses on commercial niche products to the broking community

• Our client is a fast moving, independent, proactive underwriting agency.
• They underwrite a range of specialist commercial insurance products on behalf of A Rated Insurer with the support of a select number of regional brokers.
• Their underwriting is based on sound underwriting principles with the aim of delivering underwriting profit to our insurer partners year on year.

Job title: Construction Liability New Business Underwriter
Salary: from £25,000 to £50,000 plus bonus depending on experience
Benefits: contributable company pension scheme.
Experience: min 3 years construction experience. Ideally with underwriting experience but might suit a construction broker.
Job Based: office based, may involve occasional visits to brokers and insurers

Job Information
The position is working within the new business team in the Construction department.
The candidate will be underwriting new business enquiries through delegated binding authorities with some open market business.
Type of insurance involved is primarily: Combined Liability, Contractors All Risks & Excess Liability for Contractors.
May involve some other lines such as Professional Indemnity.
The role will require talking to brokers by telephone daily as part of the new business process.
Key Tasks
•Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and insurers
•Underwrite business within agreed internal/external service levels and underwriting authorities and legal/regulatory requirements Comply with FCA regulations and our Binding Agreements
Telephone broker connections for account development
Ensure self-adheres to agreed internal/external underwriting authorities and is compliant with legal/regulatory requirements, including maintaining up to date knowledge of products and processes Demonstrate the values of the business through appropriate behaviours.
Be aware of and draw attention to possible financial and reputational risk to the business
• Develop self to maximise personal contribution to the role
• Work in accordance with binding authorities issued to us by insurers
• Work within the authority granted to you as detailed in the Personal Underwriting Authority (PUA)

• Meet agreed internal/external service levels
• Proactive approach to developing profitable broker relationships
• Deal with incoming enquiries from brokers, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner
• Manage documents
