Cameron James is currently working with an extremely ambitious and forward thinking company in their search for a PR & Communications Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a truly exciting time to join the company, as they have plans to grow rapidly and move in to new state of the art offices in the near future. My client is a two-time Guinness World Record Holder and has established relationships with some extremely influential and well respected celebrities in addition to globally renowned institutions.

The main responsibility of the PR & Communications Officer will be to join the busy marketing team to provide creative, flexible and measurable communications to meet the overall aims of the company, developing and delivering these through a range of channels so as to strengthen the external profile of the charity with key stakeholders, funding bodies and supporters. Other responsibilities include;

• Establishing and executing the PR strategy in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team.
• Be responsible for any press enquiries and manage them by drafting responses or ensuring appropriate responses have been made.
• Meet the deadlines set by media partners and management.
• Identify, build and maintain relationships with key local, regional and national media outlets, creating a database of contacts and coverage.
• Where required, engage external PR agencies and freelancers to pitch for key brand campaigns and sell-in stories to media outlets.
• Maintain and enhance a positive news flow across the group’s activities both internally and externally, on the website and for emails.
• Facilitate all individual executive profiles, interview requests, speaker opportunities, company features in trade press and programme publicity in the consumer market in line with the group’s overall positioning and strategy to project a positive image.
• Draft written communications, like Annual Reports, Press Releases, QA Documents, news stories and press profiles.

In order to be considered for this role, the chosen candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree within PR & Communications or a relative field of study. The candidate will also have 2 years’ experience within a similar role. Other competencies include;

• Demonstrable experience in Copywriting or in the PR/Media environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Work under pressure and to tight deadlines without compromising quality of work.
• Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to be able to build first class relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
